Hydrocarbons

Ethyne (also known as acetylene, ) is a hydrocarbon used in welding due to its high combustion temperature. It burns with a luminous flame, making it suitable for welding purposes. Ethene (ethylene, ) and ethane ( ) are not used in welding, and benzene is an aromatic compound that is not used in welding either.
