Emperor Ashoka, the grandson of Chandragupta, was with his father during his death. After the death of Chandragupta, 24 years later, Ashoka ascended the throne. Ashoka was greatly distressed by the disgrace of his actions, and he also had a great love for the art of warfare. After ascending the throne, he marched to Kalinga. If he won this war, he left behind a great legacy in exchange. In this war, millions of people died and many others were wounded, and a large number died from illness. Witnessing this, Ashoka's heart was transformed. He grew to detest war. He never fought again and dedicated his entire life to living humbly.

English Translation: We do not wish to talk to anyone in the same manner as we talk about things and actions. We must surely face the negative and dark dangers of life. No matter how bright or attractive our influence may be, we should not rely on it. We should not keep thinking about past events again and again. Living in the present, we must focus on performing our duties.
