Soils

The B layer in the soil profile is known as the Illuvial layer. It is the zone where materials like clay, iron, and organic matter accumulate, having been leached from the above A horizon (Eluvial layer).

Clay particles are extremely fine and have a size of less than 0.002 mm. These small particles contribute to the soil's ability to retain water and nutrients, making clay soils highly fertile.
