Rasa Theory

‘Rasa’ is a Sanskrit term meaning essence or taste — it refers to the emotion evoked in the audience.
Rasa theory is central to Indian dance, music, and drama.
The Natyashastra mentions 9 Rasas. Here are two examples:
- Shringar Rasa: Rasa of love and beauty, expressed through romantic themes and delicate expressions.
- Veer Rasa: Rasa of heroism and courage, shown through bold movements and strong expressions.
Rasa and Bhava together create a complete emotional experience for the audience.
