Nucleic Acids

Nucleic acids include the largest molecule formed by organisms. They were first isolated by Swiss scientist F. Miescher (1869) from the nuclei of pus cells (dead white blood cells or leukocytes) and named 'nuclein'.??ater on, it was found that nuclein had acidic properties and then was renamed as nucleic acid by Altmann in 1899.
