Drying Methods

Water Drying:

• Involves placing plant material in water to remove moisture slowly, maintaining freshness.
• Suitable for flowers with delicate structures.
• Requires clean, fresh water and controlled temperature.
• Often used as a pre-treatment before further drying.

Freeze Drying:

• Process of removing moisture by freezing the plant material and then reducing surrounding pressure to allow frozen water to sublimate directly from solid to gas.
• Preserves color, shape, and nutrients better than other drying methods.
• Requires specialized equipment (freeze dryers).
• Conditions: Low temperature (-20°C to -40°C), vacuum environment.

Freeze drying is a method that involves freezing the floral material and then reducing the surrounding pressure to allow the frozen water in the material to sublimate directly from the solid phase to the gas phase. It preserves the shape, color, and structure of flowers very effectively and is widely used for high-quality floral preservation.
(A) Water drying – Incorrect. This is not a standard method and often leads to deterioration.
(B) Air drying – Incorrect. It's simple but does not retain high-quality finish.
(C) Freeze drying – Correct. It maintains high quality and is relatively straightforward using proper equipment.
(D) Vacuum drying – Incorrect. It’s useful but not as efficient or simple as freeze drying for flowers.
