Leishmaniasis is a parasitic disease caused by Leishmania species and transmitted through the bite of infected sandflies. It primarily affects the skin, mucous membranes, and internal organs, depending on the type of infection. It is not related to sexual transmission. In contrast, Syphilis, Chlamydiasis, and Gonorrhoea are sexually transmitted infections (STIs) caused by specific bacterial pathogens: Treponema pallidum (Syphilis), Chlamydia trachomatis (Chlamydiasis), and Neisseria gonorrhoeae (Gonorrhoea), respectively.
