The Harappan Civilisation

M.S. Vats, an archaeologist associated with the Archaeological Survey of India, began excavations at Harappa in 1921. Harappa is one of the major sites of the Indus Valley Civilization, located in present-day Pakistan. These excavations revealed significant insights into the urban planning, architecture, and lifestyle of one of the world's oldest civilizations.

The American team, led by archaeologist George F. Dales, began excavations at Harappa in the 1960s. Their work focused on uncovering the urban layout, trade networks, and cultural aspects of the Indus Valley Civilization. This marked a significant phase in understanding the advanced planning and social structure of the Harappan cities.
