Ribosomes are ribonucleoprotein particles. These are the site 6f protein synthesis. Two basic types of ribosomes are- [a] 70S type (50S + 303): These are found in prokaryotes, mitochondria and chloroplast. [b] 80S type (60S +40S): These are found in cytoplasm of eukaryotes. Mitochondria, endoplasmic reticulum and nucleus are membrane bound cell organelles found in eukaryotic cell only. These are absent in prokaryotic cells.

When the cell wall of a plant cell is removed, the remaining is called protoplast. It is commonly used in tissue culture during protoplast fusion. Amyloplasts are those leucoplasts (colourless plastids) which store the starch.
