Sustainable Development

The Government of India announced the National Policy on Biofuels – 2018 on 10th August, 2018. This policy aims to promote the use of biofuels in the energy and transportation sectors. It encourages energy security, reduction of import dependency, and environment-friendly fuel usage.

Broader raw materials allowed (e.g., sugarcane juice, damaged grains).
Categorizes biofuels into Basic and Advanced types.
Focuses on domestic production and bio-refineries.
Supports blending targets with conventional fuels.
