Polysaccharides

Polysaccharides are complex carbohydrates made from long chains of monosaccharide units. Glucose is a simple sugar (monosaccharide), not a polysaccharide. Pectin, hemicellulose, and even though lignin is not a carbohydrate, it’s often found associated with polysaccharides in plants—yet glucose clearly stands out as not a polysaccharide.
