Due to first epicotyl elongation, plumule comes out of the ground and cotyledons remain underground. Hypocotyl does not elongate. This is called hypogeal germination. This type of germination occurs in most of die monocotyledons and few dicotyledons, e.g., maize, rice wheat, coconut, gram, pea, peanut and mango.

Pollen grain is odd one among all the other three. Pollen grain in a male gametophytic structure. Whereas all the other three are found inside ovule (nucellus, micropyle and embryo sac).
