Social Issues And Challenges

The Integrated Child Development Service (ICDS) aims to improve the nutritional and health standards of children under six and pregnant/lactating mothers. It provides supplementary nutrition, education, immunization, health check-ups, referrals, and education through Anganwadi centers.

The deficit stems from lack of funding, inefficient resource management, corruption, rural-urban disparity, growing population, limited infrastructure, and inadequate training/deployment of skilled personnel.
