In 2019, the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and the French space agency CNES (Centre National d'Études Spatiales) signed an agreement to set up a joint maritime surveillance system.
This collaboration aims to strengthen India's capabilities in maritime security and surveillance through satellite-based monitoring.
The agreement also includes the development of a constellation of satellites dedicated to maritime traffic monitoring.
