Non-biodegradable pollutants are the substances that are synthesized artificially and do not get decomposed by organisms. Such substances are harmful to the environment as they gets accumulated in nature and leads to biomagnification.

DDT is a non-biodegradable pollutant. It was initially developed as an insecticide to be used in agriculture. Being a chemically synthesized substance, this do not get decomposed in nature and gets accumulated in insects, humans and other living beings leading to biomagnification. This chemical substance can cause potential harm to the health and environment. Thus, it is considered as a ‘non-biodegradable pollutant’.

Newspaper, green leaves, and cow dung are biodegradable substances and do not cause any type of pollution in the environment.
