Gymnema sylvestre of family Asdepediaceae is a plant with potent antidiabetic properties. It is a slow growing, perennial woody climber of central and peninsular India. It is a stomachic, stimulant, laxative and diuretic and is useful in cough, biliousness and sore eyes.

Plumeria is a genus of flowering plants in dogbane Family Apocynaceae. It contains primarily deciduous shrubs and small trees, and is a native of Central America, Mexico, Caribbean, S. America and Brazil.

The spines present on Opuntia represent the reduced leaves. The leaf parts become modified into spines in order to protect the plants from grazing animals and excessive transpiration.

Main plant body of a bryophyte is gametophyte. Due to presence of chlorophyll it is photosynthetic and autotrophic in nature. 'It. is the dominant phase which produces gametes. Sporophyte develops from zygote formed by gamete fusion and is partially or totally dependent upon gametophyte for nutrition and remainsattached to it throughout the life. In gymnosperms and angiosperms, gametophyte is completely dependent on the sporophyte. In pteridophytes, gametophyte is independent but is not the dominant phase in life cycle.

Apocynaceae includes the plants with milky latex, neck of corolla tube with scales, absence of pollinia, carpels with free ovaries, united styles, follicle fruit and seed with a tuft of hairs. Other features include bisexual, pentamerous, gamopetalous corolla with epipetalous stamens.
