Cytokinins are plant growth ho~ones which are basic in nature, either aminopurine or phenyl urea derivatives. They promote cytokinesis (cell division) and are abundant in areas with higher number of cell divisions like root apex, shoot apex and young fruits. They are not found in mature fruits.
