Major Sources of Noise Pollution

Noise pollution is the presence of excessive or disturbing sound that has a harmful impact on human health and the environment. Four major sources of noise pollution are:

1. Traffic Noise:

This is the most common source of noise pollution in urban areas. It includes the sound from vehicles like cars, buses, trucks, and motorcycles.

2. Industrial Noise:

Machinery, generators, and manufacturing processes in factories and industrial plants produce high levels of noise.

3. Construction Noise:

The sound from construction activities, such as drilling, demolition, and the operation of heavy machinery like bulldozers and cranes, is a significant source of noise.

4. Social and Household Sources:

Loud music from events or neighbours, public address systems, and noise from household appliances like vacuum cleaners, mixers, and washing machines contribute to noise pollution.
