The Root

The orchids have epiphytic roots which are covered by a hygroscopic velamen tissue. The rootlets of sweet potato are irregularly swollen they are described as tuberous. The stilt roots are adventitious roots arising from the nodes of the main stem to provide more support to the plant e.g.,Pandanus, Rhizophora.
