The Tissue System

Intercalary meristems are responsible for localized growth. Perhaps they have been separated or detached from the mother meristem e.g., meristem present at the base of leaves in many monocots, in the internode of grasses, at the top of peduncles of Plantago and Taraxacum etc.

The primary meristem is primary in origin while the secondary meristem is secondary in origin. There is no place for vascular cambium as it is primary in origin (developing from the procambium) and secondary in function (because it forms secondary xylem, secondary phloem and secondary medullary rays).
