Prokaryotic Cells

The genetic material of prokaryotes lie in the centre and most genes are found within a single chromosome i.e., loop of DNA. It is called nucleoid or genophore.

In prokaryotes, the generic material consists of single circular DNA without any associated protein i.e., without histones, lying in a tangled mass (nucleoid).
