Natural Resources

The Capability approach in human development, proposed by Amartya Sen, focuses on expanding individuals' freedoms and capabilities to lead the kind of lives they value. Equity, productivity, and empowerment are dimensions of human development, but capability forms the foundation of the approach.

Humans depend directly on natural resources for their survival and daily needs. Natural resources provide essential materials such as food, water, shelter, and energy.
Food: Plants, animals, and fish from forests, rivers, and oceans are primary food sources.
Water: Rivers, lakes, and groundwater provide water for drinking, agriculture, and industry.
Shelter: Wood from forests is used to build houses and furniture.
Energy: Coal, petroleum, and natural gas are natural resources that supply energy for cooking, heating, and transportation. Thus, natural resources form the foundation of human life and economic activities.
