Alkenes

This process is known as Wacker's process.

The stability of alkenes can be determined based on the degree of substitution of the double bond. Generally, the more substituted the double bond, the more stable the alkene. The options given include:

- Option 2: 1-methylcyclohexene, a disubstituted alkene.
- Option 3: Tetrahydropyran, a monosubstituted alkene.
- Option 4: A disubstituted alkene with alkyl groups on each carbon of the double bond, enhancing stability through hyperconjugation and alkyl substituent effects.
Among these, the alkene in Option 4 is most stable due to its disubstitution and favorable electronic effects conferred by the alkyl groups adjacent to the double bond.
