The correct sequence of events during an action potential starts with polarization, where the neuron is at its resting potential. Upon stimulation, depolarization occurs as sodium ions enter the cell, followed by repolarization where potassium ions exit the cell to restore the negative internal environment. Finally, the neuron returns to its resting potential.
