Myosin is a muscle protein, which contributes 55% of muscle proteins by weight. It is composed of six polypeptide chains, two identical heavy chains and four identical light chains. One end of each heavy chain forms a globular mass that interacts with light chains called head. The head of each myosin consists of an ATPase enzyme, which releases energy in the head by breaking down ATP into ADP and Pi.
