Group 15 Elements

Phosphine (PH ) is formed in reactions involving hydrolysis of metal phosphides or certain phosphorus compounds:
- (1) reacts with NaOH and H O to give PH
- (3) reacts with alkali to give PH
- (4) with water gives PH
- (2) with water gives H PO , not PH
